Gorapada Bera
I am a Research Assistant Professor (2023-2026) at the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook University working under the mentorship of Prof. Simon Donaldson. I completed my Ph.D. (2020-2023) at the Institut für Mathematik at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Walpuski, where my research was supported by the Simons Collaboration on Special Holonomy in Geometry, Analysis, and Physics. Additionally, I spent Fall 2022 semester as a program associate at the SLMath/MSRI, Berkeley for the Analytic and Geometric Aspects of Gauge Theory program. Before moving to HU Berlin with my supervisor, I was a graduate student (2016-2020) at the Department of Mathematics at Michigan State University.
Research area: My research area lies in differential geometry, mainly in the following topics:
Riemannian manifolds with special holonomy: G2-manifolds and Calabi-Yau manifolds
Calibrated submanifolds: associative submanifolds, special Lagrangian submanifolds and holomorphic curves
Gauge theory: generalized Seiberg-Witten monopoles
